The New Zealand Society of Gastroenterology aims to develop a workforce that is best able to serve the population of Aotearoa New Zealand. We believe this means selecting a diverse group of trainees including women, men, trainees with rural and metropolitan backgrounds, and trainees with diverse ethnic backgrounds, particularly those of Māori and Pacific Island heritage. We currently have an under-representation of Māori, Pacific Island, female and provincial origin gastroenterologists.
If you are a doctor of Māori or Pacific Island heritage, are female, or grew up in a provincial area of Aotearoa New Zealand, please consider training in gastroenterology and joining us. The Society is committed to and actively working towards making the training programme accommodating to you.
You are encouraged to use our template letter to approach a local gastroenterologist to support your application. Download the letter here
There is an administration fee of $250* which NZSG will invoice you for after receipt of your CV and referees.
Applications are reviewed by the MATCH panel, applications are short-listed and interviews offered to short-listed candidates.
NZSG will be in touch with short listed candidates to offer in-person interviews at Auckland City Hospital, 4 August 2022.
Please note that this year, interviews are before the RACP 2022 Clinical Examinations on 2,3 & 4 September (with reserve days 9 &10 September). Passing the Clinical Exam is required to enter Advanced Training; therefore MATCH places will be offered once Clinical Examination results are available.
There is an administration fee of $75.00* which NZSG will invoice you for after receipt of your CV and supervisor information.
Interviews will be done virtually on 5 August 2022. We will be in touch with times for interviews.
*This cost covers administration required to run MATCH, and not intended to be a barrier to application. As this is a cost of training, it is a reimbursable expense through your DHB employer. Please contact office@NZSG.org.nz via email if confidential support is required.
