Train the Colonoscopy Trainers (TCT) held September 2 & 3, 2022

By NZ Gastro Office | Posted: Thursday October 6, 2022

After a COVID imposed hiatus the Society was able to hold Train the Trainers at Olympus Live in Albany and Waitakere Hospital, Te Whatu ora Waitemata.

After all the Covid - related restrictions the Society finally managed to run a TCT for 2022.

With relative short notice six candidates from our expanding wait list managed to organise leave to attend the 2-day course, which was ran on Friday and Saturday to minimise disruption of hospital lists and allow maximum compliance with interpersonal spacing for Covid.

We continued the practice of having teams of surgeons and physicians from the same training centre wherever possible. This time they were from Hawkes Bay and Wellington with the lucky 6th place participants coming from Christchurch via Rotorua.

Olympus NZ again gave us access to the state-of-the-art Olympus Live teaching facilities in Albany for the first day of educational theory and practical model sessions, before the second day's intense ‘live’ training with patients at the Surgical Day Centre at Waitakere Hospital.

As usual, lively and informed discussions were enjoyed throughout the 14 hours together. The course continues to enjoy excellent feedback ratings and the faculty continue to improve the content and delivery.

We recognise the need to set up the next course as soon as possible and once we have recovered from these two exhausting but inspiring days we will start on organising the next one.

Watch our website page for the next course dates.

Thanks again to Olympus New Zealand and the management and staff of Te Whatu Ora Waitemata .
