NZSG Members, Professor Michael Schultz & Dr Helen Evans are speaking at AGW 2026!

Professor Michael Schultz is a clinical-scientist in

Inflammatory Bowel Diseases both from a health delivery aspect as well as fundamental host immune system bacterial interaction.

He is widely published in gastroenterological literature and served as President of the New Zealand Society of Gastroenterology.

Currently, he is on the Board of Directors for ANZGITA, chairperson of the WGO IBD Review Guidelines Committee and the Director of the Gut Health Network.

Dr Helen Evans is a Paediatric Hepatologist and

Service Clinical Director of Medical Specialities at Starship Child Health, Auckland. Having trained at the University of Birmingham, and Birmingham Children’s Hospital, UK, Helen moved to Starship more than 20 years ago. She has special interests in biliary atresia, especially in Māori and Pacific children, liver transplantation and intestinal failure. She was instrumental in the launch of the NZ-National Intestinal Failure and Rehabilitation Society more than 10 years ago. She is Deputy Editor for Intestinal Failure, Associate Editor for Pediatric Transplantation, and the current Secretary-Treasurer of the International Pediatric Transplant Association.
