Meet Your Executive

Posted Thursday February 2, 2023

Kia ora koutou,

Happy New Year greetings to all. I’m very pleased to add a few words of introduction within this Meet Your Executive section.

I’m an academic paediatric gastroenterologist with appointments at University of Otago and Christchurch Hospital, where I’ve been since returning to NZ in 2009.

I’m now in my second term as a member of the Executive where I’m contributing as Secretary with an additional role managing research activities within the Society. I’ve been very pleased to have had the opportunity to work with a dynamic and forward-thinking team in the Exec, and look forwards to being a part of the Exec (and the NZSG) over the coming years.

Outside of the NZSG and my roles here in Christchurch, I’m very much looking forwards to getting over to Melbourne for the F1 race in a couple of months: will be great to get back to a race meet after having to leave in a hurry in March 2020 when COVID struck! Another of my passions has been the national camp for children with IBD (Camp Purple Live): I’ve been involved with the camps since they kicked off in 2015. Those who have helped us at a camp over the years will know the huge impact that the camps have for these young people with IBD.
