About the role

Fixed term temporary full time opportunity for a Gastroenterology Fellow with an interest in Nutrition, Neuro-Gastroenterology and Inflammatory Bowel Disease to have the opportunity to gain skills that facilitate the transition from advanced trainee to have the opportunity to gain skills that facilitate the transition from advanced trainee to consultant. The fellow manages inpatients and outpatients with complex nutritional needs and plays an important role in all facets of their care, including endoscopy services. The fellow is well supported by other team members and is expected to demonstrate some autonomy in dealing with other professionals involved in the management of patients with perturbations in Nutrition, NGE and IBD.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

  • Management of all facets of care for outpatients and inpatients with complex nutritional needs including parenteral and enteral Nutrition, NMC, IBD and general GE

  • Provide expert technical advice/ skills in relation to both central venous access devices and enteral feeding devices inserted either endoscopically or by interventional radiology

  • Opportunity to develop skills in Oesophageal Physiological studies (OPS – manometry, pH, Bravo), anorectal Physiology studies (APS) or Intestinal US (IUS)

  • Provide diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy including backfill as required.

  • Participation at Multi-disciplinary team meetings as part of the care to nutrition patients, those with DGBI, intestinal dysmotility, or with IBD.
