FEEDBACK ON - Referral Criteria Guidelines for lower GI investigations: FIT for Symptomatic, Colonoscopy, Computed Tomography (CT) Colonography and CT Abdominopelvic 2026
Kia ora,
We are writing to seek your feedback and endorsement on the draft “Referral Criteria Guidelines for lower GI investigations: FIT for Symptomatic, Colonoscopy, Computed Tomography (CT) Colonography and CT Abdominopelvic 2026”, which are currently under development by the Endoscopy Guidance Group New Zealand Technical Working Group and attached to this email.
This guideline has been developed to support consistent, safe, and equitable access to bowel investigation for adults presenting with lower gastrointestinal symptoms. It is intended for use by both primary and secondary care clinicians and supports a referral model into specialist services that incorporates FIT‑supported triage, with investigation choice informed by clinical risk, patient fitness, and frailty.
We are now undertaking a three-week consultation period, prior to publishing the guideline and would value your review and feedback. We would also appreciate this being shared with the wider membership.
To support the consultation process we have crafted a questionnaire to capture feedback, please complete using the following link: Consultation Questions: Referral Criteria Guidelines for lower GI investigations – Fill out form
The consultation will close on Friday 29 May 2026.
Feedback received by this date will be reviewed and where appropriate incorporated into the guidelines.
If you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
